Group Classes

Group classes are a great way to start your dog training journey, and socialize your dog to new environments, people, and dogs in a safe space.

  • Classes are open enrollment until the designated enrollment end date, or until filled.

  • Savoir Faire Dog Training is a force free training program, so no prong, shock, or choke collars are allowed, and treats are required for class.

  • Each class has prerequisites so make sure you review before signing up.

  • Each class has 6 spots total.

  • This class is designed for dog owners who want to build a solid foundation of obedience with their furry friends. We’ll cover key skills, including:

    - Focus

    - Sit

    - Down

    - Come

    - Stay

    - Release

    - Leave It

    - Loose Leash Walking

    Our goal is to equip you with the tools and knowledge needed to train your dog at home, while helping you apply these behaviors to real-life situations. You'll also learn how to seamlessly incorporate these skills into your daily routine, ensuring consistent progress and a well-mannered pup for years to come.

    At the end of the course, all students will be able to join a 1 hour forum with the instructor to discuss other issues or questions you may have about your dog and their behaviors outside of class.

    This class focuses on preparation for the AKC Canine Good Citizens Test, test items include:

    • Accepting a friendly stranger

    • Sitting politely for petting

    • Appearance & grooming

    • Walking on loose leash

    • Walking through a crowd

    • Reaction to distraction

    • Sit, down on cue and stay in place

    • Coming when called

    • Reaction to another dog

    • Supervised separation

    Prerequisites: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced class

    Class Duration: 6 weeks, 1 hr per week

    This class also includes a free CGC evaluation at the end of the 6 weeks. If your dog passes you will gain the CGC Certification. Please note, taking the CGC Prep Class does not guarantee passing the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test.

What To Expect

  1. Once you are enrolled in the class, and all of the required documents, are signed and received, we will contact you via email confirming your enrollment, and start date.

  2. You will be sent a link to a short orientation presentation through Google Classroom , this can be done at your own pace but must be completed prior to the first day of class. You will also have access to resources and homework.

  3. We will send you the rules, class start time, location, the class rules and etiquette, and what to bring to class.

  4. After each class you will receive homework to work on one on one with your dog outside of class before coming to the next class.


General Class Information & Rules

Vaccinations

All dogs in group class MUST be up to date on the following vaccinations:

- DHLPP (DA2PP + Lepto)

- Bordatella

- Rabies

**Puppies who have not finished their final round of shots will not be accepted into class.

Vaccine documents must be submitted TWO WEEKS prior to class. If your dog's vaccine is due in between the time you sign up and the first day of class please submit what you currently have an inform the instructor via email for next steps. Updated vaccine documents will be required prior to class.

Failure to provide the appropriate vaccine documents prior to class may result in your dismissal from class.


Class Rules

In order to maintain safety for everyone in class please read the following rules.

  1. ALL dogs must be leashed at ALL times with a 6ft leash. (long lines may be used at the instructors discretion)

  2. ALL dogs MUST be up to date on vaccinations (DHLPP, Bordetella, Rabies). Vaccination documents must be submitted TWO WEEKS prior to class.

  3. Maintain a 4ft distance between your dog and the other dogs in class unless otherwise instructed.

  4. Make sure all equipment/gear is fitted properly and is not damaged prior to class.

  5. If you or your dog are showing signs of illness, please be respectful to other students and do not come to class.

  6. If your female dog is in estrus, DO NOT come to class.

  7. No choke, prong/pinch, shock, flexi or retractable leashes. Please check with the instructor prior to class to ensure you have the correct equipment.

  8. Clean up after your dog.

  9. If your dog is showing lots of stress, barking, lunging, or over excited please give you and your dog more space from the class so they can calm down. The instructor or aid will go over and assist as well.

  10. If your dog is dog reactive, please inform the instructor beforehand, an evaluation may need to be done prior to accepting your dog into the class.

  11. Only treat your own dog.

  12. There will be no open play time. If you would like your dog to play with another dog in class please do so outside of class.

  13. No children will be allowed in class for safety reasons.

  14. Have fun, be respectful, and kind to yourself, your dog and your classmates!


Reactive or Fearful Dogs

If you think your dog may be more nervous or fearful in class, or is reactive to people or other dogs, please email us directly at svfdogtraining@gmail.com and let us know. We will discuss with you and can schedule an evaluation prior to class to make sure it is a good fit. If we find your dog may be too fearful or reactive we may not allow you to attend the classes, and suggest private sessions.

If while in class your dog becomes reactive, please create more distance from the class to allow your dog to calm down and get below threshold, or if necessary remove your dog from the area completely. If your dog is unable to participate due to nervousness or reactivity, our assistant trainers may take you aside and work with you one on one, or you may be asked to leave class. You will be able to attend the classes without your dog and still receive the lesson.


Skipping Prerequisite Classes

If you think your dog’s skill level is better suited for a more advanced class, you can email us directly at svfdogtraining@gmail.com. We will contact you and schedule a short evaluation to assess your dog’s skill level. Please note, this does not guarantee your dog’s acceptance into a more advanced class. Entry into the advanced classes by skipping over the prerequisite classes is at the sole discretion of Savoir Faire Dog Training and associates.


Payment

Full payment for the class is due no later than 2 weeks prior to the class start date. If you do not pay for the class by the due date you will not be accepted into the class. Payments can be made via check, cash, or credit card.

A fee of $25 will be charged for any returned checks.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

We understand life happens and circumstances change. Cancelations for the group class must be submitted ONE WEEK prior to the start of the first class date. A refund will be given minus a $10 service fee will be issued if cancelled within the before mentioned time frame, or you can use the payment as a credit toward another group class or towards private training. After before mentioned time frame a refund or credit will not be issued for cancelled classes, or missed classes. We know life happens, so if you find out you cannot attend a class period but it is past the refund deadline, a credit can be applied to a later class period or towards private training.

If you are unable to attend a class, you may have someone else come in your place. They must sign the waivers prior to class to be considered the dogs guardian. No make up classes will be offered. Homework will be available to you in the Google Classroom if you miss a lesson, or you can come without your dog if your dog is the reason you are unable to attend.

If a class is canceled by the instructor, the class will be rescheduled for another week and the end date of the class will be pushed back. Please note that classes falling on holidays may be rescheduled.
